A webinar is a powerful tool because of its ability to generate multiple passive income streams thanks to replays.

When the live webinar platform GoToWebinar.com was first introduced, it enabled you to record your presentation only on PCs and not on Apple computers. And, when you’d recorded your presentation, it would produce a big clumsy file that wouldn’t play online unless it was converted into an mp4 file first. Then, you had to use different software to make the file play on a web page.

This tedious process led me to create my own webinar replay system called ‘Webinator.’

A webinar replay is a very smart way to leverage your time and earn multiple income streams on virtual autopilot.

By capturing an audience’s contact details, webinar owners can build a highly-targeted mailing list, which can be followed up if the customers don’t buy immediately after watching the replay. They can also be contacted at a later stage for future offers.

Case study: Sean Allison

It’s not uncommon for webinar replays to perform better, in terms of sales, than the live version. This can be easily explained by the fact that, thanks to replays, audience members can choose the time to watch the webinar that’s most convenient for them—or when they have fewer distractions.

Sean Allison, from Perth, was an accountant working 70 hours a week, struggling to pay the bills and at the brink of burnout. He discovered the power of webinars, and more specifically, the power of replays.

When Sean first decided to use webinars to generate income and potentially replace his income as an accountant, he had three choices.

  • He had been a personal trainer for a few years and could have put together a webinar and product around the topic of fitness and weight loss.
  • Another option was to put together a webinar about accounting, helping people save on tax for example.
  • His third option was to put together a webinar on options trading, as he had developed a passion for it.

He decided to pursue the latter as he was already using the strategy for himself while still working at a job, and had already shared his formula to friends and family who were experiencing considerable returns.

All he had to do was to package his knowledge and expertise into an information product. This led to the creation of The Income Generator Strategy, a product that sold initially at $997.

Below is an example of how his webinar replay outperformed his live webinar.

As you can see from the screenshots below, his live webinar, held on April 24, generated five sales at $997 between the hours of 8.20am and 8.45am.

A few hours later, when the webinar replay was shared with the registrants who didn’t attend the live session, an additional 16 sales were generated from 1.17pm on April 24 and in the following days.

That’s an additional $15,952 for doing absolutely nothing!

At the scheduled live webinar time, over 100 people tried to login. Since 100 people was the limit on attendance, a notification appeared saying, “This webinar has reached its limit of 101 attendees.” This resulted in many people eager to access the information.

Sean used this to market the replay in an email to registrants, as a highly sought-after presentation. We were able to create genuine urgency in our follow-up marketing because many of the people who received the replay email, actually experienced the disappointment of being unable to attend live.
